Food: Girl Scouts Stuck With 15 Million Boxes Of Cookies

Girl Scouts Stuck With 15 Million Boxes Of Cookies

The federal government has a strategic oil reserve. Maybe now's the time to add a strategic COOKIE reserve. Because there's a massive Girl Scout Cookie SURPLUS this year of about 15 million boxes.

It's not because they're less popular than they used to be. It's because a lot of Girl Scout troops couldn't do in-person sales during the pandemic. So they ended up with a lot left over, and they didn't make as much money because of it.

The bakeries that make them are hanging onto about 12 million boxes, and only three million need to be sold or donated in the next few months. So they're asking people to check their local Girl Scoutwebsiteto see if they're still taking orders. Or you can check out their "Hometown Heroes" program and buy cookies for frontline workers.

Starbucks Shortages Are So Bad...Some Stores Are Out Of Coffee

We told you last week about shortages and unavailability of certain items and even drinks that you couldn’t order at Starbucks, but now some locations are reported to be actually running out of coffee!

While customers and baristas alike are said to be unhappy with the situation – and some people have given up going to Starbucks for the time being altogether – the company says it’s not the case at all! In fact, a Starbucks representative says “Starbucks coffee is not impacted by the temporary supply shortages of some of our products.”

Either way, all the confusion suggests you ought to be prepared for not getting your first choice of beverage. No word on when everything will be back in order, but we’ll keep you posted.

Broccoli Is Still America's Favorite Vegetable, but Carrots Are Gaining

I guess potatoes weren't an option here. If they were, French fries would top this list every year until the end of time . . .

An annual survey on America's favorite VEGETABLES just came out. And broccoli is #1 again. But could its reign at the top be coming to an end soon?

It's the #1 vegetable in 30 different states. So it still dominates with more than half the country. But the overall number of people who say it's their favorite is down 23% since 2019.

CARROTS are booming for some reason, with five times more people saying it's their favorite compared to two years ago.

They're the most popular vegetable in 12 states: California, Washington, Alaska, Utah, Montana, Kansas, Louisiana, Tennessee, Alabama, Florida, Delaware, and Connecticut.

The only other veggie that ranked first anywhere was CORN with eight states. And most of them are in the Midwest: Michigan, Wisconsin, Iowa, Minnesota, Kentucky, South Dakota, Nebraska, and Maine.

Coca Cola Is Buying Everyone A Coke For A Good Reason

Coca-Cola has decided to give everyone in America a free Coke this week in an effort to show support to local restaurants that have adversely affected by the Covid pandemic. The promotion, dubbed “a Coke on us” is as easy as ordering a Coca-Cola beverage at a restaurant...and the company picks up the tab.

What do you need to do? Go to us.coca-cola.com/summer and enter your info. You’ll receive an email about redeeming the offer, which is redeemable from Thursday through Monday. What’s to redeem? The ”free Cokes” are actually in the form of a $2.50 Mastercard Mobile Wallet credit.

As Melissa Schwartz, brand director for Coke & Meals sees it, the plan is “enabling hundreds of thousands of fans to kick off summer with a Coke and a meal from a local restaurant, and to feel good while doing so, giving Americans one more reason to support local.”
