What Album Does Weird Al Yankovic Owe His Career to . . . ?

WEIRD AL YANKOVIC owes his career to ELTON JOHN . . . in a way. Elton's "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" is the first rock album Al bought with his own money when he was a kid in the early '70s.

And he proceeded to learn the songs on his accordion. He says, quote, "Since I played the accordion . . . the right half of which is a piano keyboard . . . it was fairly easy for me to emulate him.

"I was able to figure out all the chords, write them down, and play every song on the album by ear. After playing along [to] the album a few hundred times, I was even able to delude myself into thinking that the accordion was a perfectly acceptable rock and roll instrument."

New Green Day Song Premiering This Weekend

Get ready for the new Green Day. The band is premiering a new song during this weekend’s “NHL Outdoors at Lake Tahoe” event in Nevada.

The two outdoor games, taking place at the Edgewood Tahoe resort, will see the Colorado Avalanche and Las Angeles Golden Knights face off on Saturday… when the NHL will premiere Green Day’s new song “Here Comes The Shock.” Pentatonix will also remotely perform the National Anthem at the two-day event, on Sunday when the Boston Bruins and Philadelphia Flyers face off.

The release of “Here Comes The Shock” is the latest in Green Day’s two-year music deal with the NHL. “LOUD season has returned,” the band says in a statement. “We’re stoked ‘Here Comes The Shock’ will soundtrack the NHL’s return to the outdoors!”
