The First '90s Song to Log One Billion Streams Is . . . "Wonderwall"

The first '90s song has logged ONE BILLION streams on Spotify, and it's . . . "Wonderwall" by OASIS(???)

"Wonderwall" was a really popular song when it came out in 1995, but it peaked at #8 on the Billboard Hot 100 . . . and of ALL the songs from the '90s, "Wonderwall" is kind of a random hit to be the first to a billion.

It's only the second song from before the year 2000 to surpass a billion streams. The other is "Bohemian Rhapsody" by QUEEN, which has over 1.3 billion streams.

Noel Gallagher Writing Song For John Lennon Tribute Album

Noel Gallagher is contributing to an upcoming John Lennon tribute album. The Beatles legend’s son Sean Lennon is putting together an album celebrating John’s 80th birthday, and Noel is writing a song for it.

Noel is reportedly working on the new track at London’s Tileyard Studios, inspired by his love for the late Beatle’s music. His Beatles fandom is well-documented – he even used chords from “Imagine” at the start of Oasis’ “Don’t Look Back In Anger.”

“Sean wanted Noel on board because of his love of The Beatles and John,” a source tells “The Sun.” “And also in recognition of the massive impact he’s had on the UK music scene over the last decades.”

Metallica Releasing New Batch Of Whiskey

Metallica is coming out with a new whiskey. The band has unveiled their new batch of their Blackened whiskeycreated using soundwaves from their 2019 “S&M2” concerts with the San Francisco Symphony.

“We knew we had to mark their 20th anniversary on an even bigger scale, but without sacrificing any of the intimacy of those shows,” the band says in a statement. “The reaction has been incredible, to the shows and the album, and we’re thrilled to be able to bring those same S&M2 vibes to Blackened.”

The new batch was aged for more than eight years before being finished in casks that were blasted with a 17-song playlist from the band’s “S&M2” live album… in a process dubbed “Black Noise sonic-enhancement.” Check out Batch 106 HERE.

Tom Morello Soundtracks George Floyd Birthday Film

Tom Morello is providing the music for a new short film coming out on what would have been late George Floyd’s 47th birthday. “No Justice, No Peace” was released yesterday, spotlighting racial injustice in the United States.

Tom’s song “Marching on Ferguson” is featured on the soundtrack of the movie, which starts off with Floyd’s murder and the subsequent protests. In a statement, the rocker denounces racial injustice, and pays tribute to Breonna Taylor, as well, saying “we will not be told to maintain hushed tones about the status quo.”

“This song and this film are a middle finger to the silence that ‘polite society’ has asked of people in pain,” he says. “From the streets to the ballot boxes, we will make our voices heard.”
