because it was on that day in 1869 that Cornelius Swartwout, of Troy, New York, was given a patent for the waffle iron! If you have one, pull it out of the cupboard and get wafflin'!
According to Guinness, the largest waffle ever made was just over eight feet across.
Yes: It weighed 110 pounds. A group in the Netherlands cooked it up in 2013.

There's a "Candy Land" Competition Show in the Pipeline
The Food Network is developing a competition show called"Candy Land"that's hosted byKristin Chenoweth. . . and yeah, it's based on the kids game.
Here's how it'll work: Five groups of "cake and sugar artists" will compete for a chance to win $25,000.
They'll have to make their way through some kind of 'Candy Land' . . . to get different flavors and unique ingredients on their way to "King Kandy's Castle." There's no premiere date yet.
