Drive-In Movies Playing This Weekend In The Houston Area

It's been a big summer for drive-in movies. With most of the country's movie theaters shut down by the pandemic and movie studios not releasing any of the blockbusters that were originally scheduled to open, the summer box office has been dominated by outdoor showings of classics like Back to the Future, Ghostbusters, Star Wars, Jurassic Park, and Grease. Cinemark has select theaters open now and the other major theater chains are working to reopen as soon as they can safely get back to business, but there are a couple of options in the Houston area for drive-in movies.

Here's what's playing this weekend. If you're interested, act fast. These showings sell out pretty quickly.

Fight Club

David Fincher's darkly comic Edward Norton/Brad Pitt drama(?) is playing at the The Drive-In at Sawyer Yards tonight, 7/31 at 10:45 PM.

Beverly Hills Cop

The mega-hit 1984 Eddie Murphy action-comedy is playing at the The Drive-In at Sawyer Yards Saturday night, 8/1 at 11:15 PM.

The Sandlot

The 1993 coming-of-age baseball comedy is playing at the The Drive-In at Sawyer Yards Sunday night, 8/2 at 8:20 PM.

Dirty Dancing

The romantic semi-musical 1987 drama starring Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey is playing at the The Drive-In at Sawyer Yards Sunday night, 8/2 at 11:00 PM.

The Rental / Palm Springs (Double Feature)

This double feature is playing at The Showboat Drive-In in Hockley tonight (7/31) and Sunday night, 8/2 at 7:30 PM. The Rental is a horror-thriller about two couples staying at a beach house who begin to suspect something sinister is happening to them. Palm Springs is a fun romantic comedy about people stuck in a Groundhog Day-style time loop.

The Jungle Book

The 2016 live-action remake of Disney's animated classic is playing at The Showboat Drive-In in Hockley tonight (7/31) and Sunday night, 8/2 at 7:30 PM.
