1. "Is soccer called football"? Yes, it is, in most parts of the world.

2. "Is the U.S. in the World Cup"? and "Is the U.S. good at soccer"? Yes, the U.S. is in the World Cup, and they have advanced to the knockout round after winning their group.

3. "Is ranch an American thing"? It was the top-trending question related to Americans over the past week. "Can I bring ranch dressing on a plane" and "TSA ranch dressing warning" also spiked this week, for foreign visitors who want to bring some home with them.

And since ranch is a sauce or gel, bottles of it must go in your checked bag.

4. "Why are all the cleats pink"? Almost every major cleat brand released bright pink or "Electric Fuchsia" collections specifically for the World Cup. It's mostly to help stand out against the green grass . . . and players also prefer bright, loud colors.
