WORLD SPAY DAY!!!

You know what we love? Removing the reproductive organs of animals for their own good. Which is why we love World Spay Day on January 23! It might sound harsh, but the truth is, failing to spay and neuter dogs and cats is responsible for millions of unwanted animals living on the streets without homes or food or being killed in shelters all over the world. So while it might make you twinge to think of a day celebrating animal sterilization, the truth is, the pain of putting all those animals down is far harsher.

Fire investigators say it's too early to tell what caused a massive fire that hit a business late Wednesday night near Bush Intercontinental Airport. The two-alarm fire broke out in a yard behind a warehouse on Aldine Westfield near Richey Road, to the immediate northwest of the airport. Fire department officials say materials of an unknown type are burning outside the building, and not the building itself. It's not yet known whether any employees were on site when the fire started.

Michelle Carter, convicted in texting suicide case, set to be released Thursday

BOSTON - A woman convicted of manslaughter for urging her suicidal boyfriend to kill himself in 2014 is set to leave jail Thursday morning.

The impending release of Michelle Carter comes after she served most of a 15-month sentence at the Bristol County jail in Dartmouth, Massachusetts.

The 23-year-old Plainville native is getting out more than three months early after jail officials say she accrued enough credits for good behavior and attending jail programs. She will now serve five years of probation.

Former Houston Dash star player Kealia Ohai won't be the grand marshal of this year's Downtown Rodeo Parade after all. The decision by Houston Rodeo officials apparently is based on Ohai's recent trade to Chicago, and not any problem between her and the Rodeo organization. A news release from the Rodeo wishes Ohai the best in Chicago. The new grand marshals of the parade on February 29th are eight past recipients of Rodeo scholarships. Ohai is the fiancée of Houston Texans defense star J.J. Watt.

ICYMI: Guy Gets Trapped In Shed By Bull Moose - An Alaska man has an interesting story to tell about his close encounter with a bull moose… and it’s on video.

The tape shows Curtis Phelps taking a bag of garbage to a shed in his yard earlier this month. The young moose starts approaching while Phelps is inside the shed. It wasn't until he came out that he saw the massive and curious animal walking towards him.

Phelps took a quick glance at the animal, turned around and barricaded himself inside the shed. The moose moved on a couple minutes after that “oh hell no!” moment, Phelps didn't come out until he called his wife to see if the coast was clear.
