Movies: New in Theaters: "Captain Marvel" and "The Kid"

1. "Captain Marvel"(PG-13)

Marvel's first stand-alone movie for a female superhero starsBrie Larson as Carol Danvers. She's a human test pilot with no memory of her previous life, who's been trained by a race of blue aliens to fight shape-shifting green aliens called the Skrull.

Samuel L. Jackson has a larger role in this pre-Avengers movie. The action takes place in the '90s, so when she returns to Earth and meets Nick Fury for the first time, he still has his hair and both of his eyes. He's also digitized to look younger.

This is the first MCU movie to hit theaters since Stan Lee died in November. So in addition to his regular cameo,"Captain Marvel"also opens with a touching tribute.

"The Kid       "(R)

Vincent D'Onofrio directs this western about a boy and his sister who bond with Billy the Kid just before Pat Garrett takes him into custody. They're on the run from their uncle,Chris Pratt, because the boy shot their dad after he beat their mom to death.

Ethan Hawke plays Pat Garrett,Dane DeHaan is Billy, Vincent D'Onofrio's daughterLeila George plays the kid's sister, and D'Onofrio makes a cameo as someone who's trying to claim the reward on Billy the Kid's head for himself.

Disney Announces Opening Dates For Star Wars Galaxy Edge

·Disney's new "Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge" theme park is coming this summer

·It opens in Disneyland on May 31st and Disney World on August 29th

·You need a reservation to see it until June 23rd, unless you're staying at a Disney hotel

You can look forward to enjoying Disney’s newest theme park earlier than expected – this summer! It’s been announced that “Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge” will open in Disneyland on May 31st and Walt Disney World on August 29th.

The thing is, the attractions won’t all be ready right away – they’ve been separated into “phases.” During Phase one, you can enjoy the “Millenium Falcon: Smugglers Run” ride and most of the park’s shops and restaurants. Disney says that Phase Two, when you can ride “Rise Of The Resistance,” won’t be ready until “later this year.”

Disney knows a lot of you “Star Wars” fans are super excited, so to prevent overcrowding they’ve laid out some ground rules. Those who want to come see the park from opening day until June 23rd will have to make a reservation (but don’t worry, there’s no extra charge). But if you stay at one of Disney’s hotels, each guest gets a complimentary reservation.

All Stephen King Movies, Ranked

The new version of"Pet Sematary"is less than a month from hitting theaters. But how will it rate compared to the original film version back in 1989?

It'll be interesting to see, because that one made it to #10 in a ranking of all 44 STEPHEN KING movies.

ScreenRant.com did the list, and they kept it to theatrical movies . . . so things like the CLASSIC TV miniseries"It"and"Salem's Lot"from back in the day didn't count. They also ignored sequels King had nothing to do with, like"Children of the Corn 2 through 538"or whatever.

Here are the Top 10 King flicks . . .

1. "The Shawshank Redemption", 1994

2. "The Shining", 1980

3. "Stand By Me", 1986

4. "The Mist", 2007

5. "Gerald's Game", 2017

6. "Misery", 1990

7. "Carrie", 1976

8. "The Dead Zone", 1983

9. "It", 2017

10. "Pet Sematary", 1989

So what's the WORST Stephen King movie of all time? That honor goes to 1986's"Maximum Overdrive". . . the only movie King ever directed.

It's followed in badness by"Hearts in Atlantis"(2001),"The Mangler"(1995),"Dolan's Cadillac"(2010), and"Secret Window"(2003).

The list also gives props to some overlooked King classics, like"The Dark Half"#21),"Needful Things"(#20), and"The Night Flyer"(#13).
