Listener Nathan sent us an email about how he had to amputate his thumb:
"I survived a combat tour in Iraq in 2006 and made it back, praise God, in one piece and no major injuries. Then on Thursday a 500 lbs pipeline inspection tool rolled onto my thumb and nearly severed it while I was on a job out of state."

Update 1:
"I had surgery to have it amputated three weeks after my injury. Unfortunately the surgeon and hospital in MN weren't as awesome as Houston and they were unable to save my thumb. Dr. Henry had to amputate at the knuckle."
Update 2:
I'm sending the update on my thumb. Good news, bad news. It wasn't a complete amputation. They were able to save half of my thumb. Thanks to everyone who recommended Dr. Henry at Houston Hand and Wrist Center. He did a great job and I would highly recommended him.

3) Shocking amount of strangers have the balls to ask how I lost my thumb........ got tired of explaining the depressing work story so now I make up stories. Favorite one- "Lost it in 'nam" Every teenager fails when they nod in agreeement 😳
4) Amazing how much bigger your middle finger is when flipping the bird.
5) WTF how am I gonna peel crawfish!?!? 😳😩Guess that is what the wife is for."
