Keanu Reeves Just Donated 70% of His Matrix Salary to Cancer Research

A new report is sharing that Keanu Reeves donated the majority of his earnings from the original "The Matrix" to cancer research. Keanu was reportedly paid $10-million upfront for the flick, and then another $35-million when it became a blockbuster.

Of that, he donated 70% of it - which is about $31.5-million - to leukemia research. The cause is very close to Keanu's heart. His younger sister Kim was battling leukemia for eight years at the time. She was first diagnosed in 1991, and was in and out of treatment for 10 years, finally starting remission in 2001.

Since then, he's still given money to the research and even started his own cancer fund. “I have a private foundation that’s been running for five or six years, and it helps aid a couple of children’s hospitals and cancer research,” Reeves was quoted as telling Ladies Home Journal in 2009. “I don’t like to attach my name to it, I just let the foundation do what it does.”
