Fiona Apple is back with her long-awaited fifth album, Fetch the Bolt Cutters. It's been eight years since Apple released The Idler Wheel...
An article over at Consequence of Sound notes that Fiona Apple fans are used to her deliberate pace and that the singer-songwriter is known for taking her time and agonizing over her art. She's been adamant in past interviews about the need for artists to dwell on their pain. This new album was recorded over several years at her home in LA and features percussion tracks built out of household objects...rubber bands, baked seedpods, oil cans, etc. The title references a line of dialogue from the British police procedural The Fall. Apple intends it to evoke the determination of women to overcome terrible pain.
Fetch the Bolt Cutters is out now and available to stream wherever you like to get your music.
