via Metal Insider, ''A marine, Geoffrey Ingersoll, was the first person to report on it via a Tweet. While many of the details are blurred out, it’s made clear that Korn, Nickelback, Slipknot, Smash Mouth and Creed are not to be played at the command post. And not just during work hours, but at all times. The guy that wrote the memo is obviously not a fan of those five, especially since he spelled Nickelback and Smash Mouth wrong. Also, Korn and Slipknot would certainly identify more as metal bands than rock.
This is a slippery slope. What happens if Stone Sour and Alter Bridge are played? What if someone’s just listening to a fun Smash Mouth meme, like “All Star” recreated using Windows XP sounds? Would that count? And what do Korn and Slipknot think of their music being banned? We’d be interested in hearing what led to the moratorium on those five bands and why, but we’re probably not getting any answers anytime soon from the military.'
Many are saying it's a joke ...
