Music News: Former Bassist Sues Linkin Park Over Royalties

Former Bassist Sues Linkin Park Over Royalties

It’s never too late for a lawsuit. Twenty-four years later, former Linkin Park bassist Kyle Christner has launched a lawsuit against his old band claiming they owe him royalties.

The rocker’s suit was filed with the US District Court for the Central District Of California yesterday and alleges he’s never been given “a penny” for “more than 20” tracks from 1999. The filing also says Christner hasn’t “been properly credited, even as (his former band) have benefited from his creative efforts.”

The bassist points out that his name was removed from the 2001 “fan club edition” of “Hybrid Theory” and the LP’s 20th anniversary box set. Christner’s legal team even cites band co-founder Mike Shinoda’s compliment of his work on “Could Have Been” in a 2020 Twitch stream. The former bandmate is asking for royalties, interest and attorney’s fees.

Gene also mentioned that a different type of live show is in the works. Quote, "It'll be four to 10 different traveling shows. So, you'll be able to be in Japan and have Japanese actors, musicians being us . . .

"And at the same time you could go to Vegas or New York or London."
