A British man who was denied an alcoholic drink aboard a flight to Palma de Mallorca because he was too drunk went on a rampage — and bit off part of his traveling companion’s ear, according to a report.
The 29-year-old first tried to open a fridge containing booze and then swiped a drink from another passenger before the flight from Birmingham touched down at Palma’s s airport on the Spanish island late last week, The Sun reported.
While members of the Civil Guard spoke to the crew about the man’s actions, a fight broke out in the cabin.
“As officers were taking down details of what had occurred by the entrance to the plane, they saw a fight had broken out inside,” the Civil Guard said in a statement.
“They entered the aircraft and saw the detainee attacking another passenger after biting off part of his right ear. He was overpowered and arrested,” it added.
The injured passenger – described as the drunken suspect’s friend – was taken to a local for treatment, as were officers who were hurt in a scuffle during the arrest.
The suspect, who was charged with the alleged offense of causing injury, has not been named. The airline also has not been identified.
