Here Are The Houston Area School Closings

Tropical Storm Beta Houston Area School Closings and Delays

ALDINE ISD

Due to inclement weather, after school athletic practices have been canceled. Aldine ISD will continue monitoring the weather and will provide updates if any changes to district operations are necessary.

ALVIN ISD

Out of an abundance of caution for the safety of our staff & students, Alvin ISD schools and campuses will be closed on Monday, September 21, 2020 due to Tropical Storm Beta. This closure will affect all students, including Alvin Virtual Learning (AVL) and all extracurricular activities for Monday, September 21.

ANGLETON ISD

AISD will close school tomorrow (Monday, September 21). This includes closing classes for both On-Campus Learning and Online Learning. We will keep you updated about the rest of the week as we continue to monitor the weather.

BAY CITY ISD

Bay City ISD will be closed on Monday, Sept. 21, as a precaution against the effects of Tropical Storm Beta. Students will not be required to log on to any classes.

BOLING ISD

Schools will be closed on Monday, September 21.

BRAZOSPORT ISD

BISD classes will be canceled Monday, September 21, due to Tropical Storm Beta’s expected weather conditions, this includes both At-Home and At-School learning, as well as after school activities. A decision regarding school closures for Tuesday will be made and communicated on Monday.

CALHOUN COUNTY ISD

Schools will be closed on Monday, September 21.

COLLEGE OF THE MAINLAND

Out of an abundance of caution, in-person classes and on-campus operations at all College of the Mainland locations are canceled Tuesday, September 22, 2020. All online classes and virtual operations will continue as scheduled tomorrow, Tuesday, September 22, 2020. No students, employees, or visitors are allowed in COM buildings or facilities, unless they have explicit permission from the College of the Mainland Police Department (COM PD). The COM Police Department will continue to remain on campus. College of the Mainland officials will continue to actively monitor Tropical Storm Beta. 

COLUMBIA-BRAZORIA ISD 

Schools will be closed on Monday, September 21. 

CLEAR CREEK ISD

Clear Creek ISD will be closed Tuesday, September 22, due to Tropical Storm Beta. This closure impacts all students, including Clear Connections Online, and all extracurricular activities. 

DICKINSON ISD

Due to the potential impact of Tropical Storm Beta on our community, Dickinson ISD will be closed Tuesday, September 22. This includes both Face-to-Face and Remote Instruction as well as after-school activities. 

FRIENDSWOOD ISD

Schools will be closed on Monday, September 21. 

GALVESTON ISD

In order to ensure the safety of all Galveston ISD students and staff, classes are canceled for Monday, September 21 - Tuesday, September 22 due to potential flooding conditions related to Tropical Storm Beta. This means there will be no on-site or remote instruction for the next two days. All extracurricular events and athletics for those dates are canceled as well. Please monitor Galveston ISD’s website and Facebook pages where we will post the latest information about announcements and decisions.

HITCHCOCK ISD

Superintendent Travis Edwards announced Hitchcock ISD will be closed on Tuesday, September 22 due to Tropical Storm Beta.

LA PORTE ISD

Schools will be closed on Monday, September 21.

MAINLAND PREPATORY CLASSICAL ACADEMY

Mainland Preparatory Classical Academy will be closed for virtual and face to face learning today Monday, September 21 due to Tropical Storm Beta. School officials will continue to monitor the weather and a decision about opening Tuesday will be made Monday. 

MATAGORDA ISD

Schools will be closed on Monday, September 21. 

NEEDVILLE ISD

Due to safety and mobility issues related to Tropical Storm Beta, all Needville ISD campuses will be closed Monday, Sept. 21, 2020. There will be no virtual or on-campus classes held. 

PALACIOS ISD 

Schools will be closed on Tuesday, September 22. 

PASADENA ISD

Due to Tropical Storm Beta and the changing predictions regarding rainfall, storm surge levels, and tropical-storm-force winds, Pasadena ISD will be closed Tuesday, September 22. This closure is for face-to-face and virtual students including extracurricular activities. Classes will resume Wednesday, September 23, 2020.

PEARLAND ISD

Out of an abundance of caution & for the safety of students & staff, Pearland ISD will be closed Monday, Sept. 21, due to Tropical Storm Beta. The closure includes all remote & on-campus learners. We will keep you updated on Tuesday as we continue to monitor the weather.

All extracurricular and athletic activities are also canceled Monday afternoon. The district continues to monitor TS Beta, and we will announce our decision for tomorrow as soon as possible this evening.

SANTA FE ISD

Schools will be closed on Monday, September 21.

SPLENDORA ISD

Games today and tomorrow have been moved around due to the expected weather in our area. JH Volleyball will now play on Wednesday. JH Football will now play Wednesday. HS Tennis will now play on Thursday.

SWEENY ISD

Sweeny ISD has determined that all virtual and in-person instruction will be canceled for Monday, September 21st. At this time, all extracurricular activities will be canceled and district facilities will be closed on Monday, September 21st. We will continue to monitor the landfall of Tropical Storm Beta and make a decision regarding in-person and virtual learning, as well as extracurricular activities, for Tuesday, September 22 as soon as we can.

TEXAS CITY ISD

Texas City ISD will close school on Tuesday, September 22. This means there will be no on-site or remote instruction on Tuesday nor will there be any extracurricular or athletic events. Updates will be posted on the Texas City ISD website and social media accounts.

TIDEHAVEN ISD

Schools will be closed on Monday, September 21. 

VAN VLECK ISD

Schools will be closed on Monday, September 21. 

WHARTON ISD

To ensure the safety of our full community, Wharton ISD is moving quickly to address potential bad/inclement weather forecasts by local weather experts. Our goal is to protect the health, safety, and well-being of our community therefore out of an abundance of caution on Monday, September 21, 2020 all Wharton ISD schools are closed.
