Music: Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder Guests On Lilly Cornell Silver’s Series

Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder Guests On Lilly Cornell Silver’s “Mind Wide Open” Series

Eddie Vedder is interviewed by Chris Cornell’s daughter, Lily Cornell Silver, for the latest episode of her IGTV series “Mind Wide Open.” In the description of the show, Lilly calls the Pearl Jam frontman “a guiding light in my life.”

“I am thrilled that Ed offered to do Mind Wide Open,” she shares in a statement. “His and his family’s support around my series means so much to me. He has always been like an uncle to me and is one of the pillars of support in my life.” She adds, “I know how impactful his voice is to people around the world and I deeply appreciate everything he stands for, so I am really excited for others to watch and hear his insights.”

In the pair’s chat, Lily and Eddie talk about how the current political climate weighs on their mental health. Eddie also talks about tough childhood, and how it influenced his music, how the band dealt with the Roskilde tragedy and more.

Regarding the band's debut album "Ten," he notes, "There is some sad sh*t on there,” adding,  “[I remember thinking], ‘Wow, this kind of depressing that tens of millions of people are relating to this.’ Who knew? It was probably a healthy thing for everybody."

He also discusses how proud he is of the younger generation and their activism, noting, “Lucky for the planet that you guys are way more intelligent and way more in tune than you know.” Check it out to the right.

How Did Taco Bell Influence One of Tom Morello's Guitar Purchases?

TOM MORELLO posted a picture of his red Les Paul guitar the other day, and explained why he chose to buy that particular ax.

Was it because red is the color of blood and rebellion? You might think so.But the truth is a little less militant.

He said, quote, "Why did I choose this one?Because it was the color of Taco Bell hot sauce, a staple food group of mine at the time."(!!!)

Tom added that he used it as an overdub guitar while recording of RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE's debut album, and you can hear it on several tracks, including "Killing in the Name", "Freedom", and "Township Rebellion".

A guy showed how the same three-note riff was used in seven different popular songs.

He played the notes on the piano, and then played each song on his device.

(The songs are Chris Medina's "What Are Words" . . . One Direction's "They Don't Know About Us" . . . Passenger's "Let Her Go" . . . a Swedish artist named Per Gessle, and his song "Om Du Bara Vill" . . . plus Lady Gaga's "Always Remember Us This Way" . . .
