New in Theaters: "The Invisible Man" and "Impractical Jokers"

"The Invisible Man"(R)

This plays more like a horror movie than the 1933 classic starring Claude Rains, and is more suspenseful than the Kevin Bacon movie "Hollow Man" from 2000.

In this new version, Elisabeth Moss escapes from a controlling relationship with a violent, but brilliant scientist, who then fakes his own death. She inherits most of his fortune, but then he makes everyone think she's going crazy as he invisibly stalks her.

British actor Oliver Jackson-Cohen plays the invisible man. You might remember him from "The Haunting of Hill House", "Emerald City", and NBC's "Dracula". And of course you know Elisabeth Moss as Offred on "The Handmaid's Tale".

"Impractical Jokers" expands nationwide. (PG-13)

Paula Abdul gives the guys three tickets to a Miami party, so the four of them compete in 10 hidden camera challenges to determine which one of them can't go to her party.

And now, some limited releases you may or may not care about:

. . . "Greed" stars Steve Coogan and Isla Fisher in a comedy that satires the world of the filthy rich, with Steve playing a billionaire going through a major scandal while someone is filming a documentary about his life.

"Burden" stars Forest Whitaker as a reverend struggling to hold his community together after the Ku Klux Klan opens a museum in his small South Carolina town. And Garrett Hedlund plays a Klansman who turns to him for help leaving the Klan. Usher and Tom Wilkinson are also in it.
