Dr. Pimple Popper Suffered a Stroke While Filming Her Show

Dr. Sandra Lee . . . or as you'd know her, Dr. Pimple Popper . . . suffered a stroke last November while filming the upcoming season of her show, "Dr. Pimple Popper: Breaking Out".

Initially, she thought she was just having a hot flash. But after filming, she experienced shooting pain in one leg, and by morning she had a tough time speaking and using the left side of her body.

After a visit to the ER, an MRI confirmed that Dr. Lee suffered an ischemic stroke, which is when there's a blockage in the blood vessels in the brain.

She says, quote, "What essentially happened is I had a part of my brain that died . . . It is very stressful to open yourself up. Especially as a surgeon, you always want to show yourself coming from an area of strength."

Dr. Lee says her blood pressure and cholesterol weren't under control, and she was under a lot of stress. She's 55. After the stroke, she had to pause filming for two months to regain her balance and motor skills.

Quote, "Thankfully I'm pretty much back to normal . . . It really makes you realize how precious life is . . . I want to think about it as a blessing in disguise. Because it reminds you to take better care of yourself."

The new season of "Dr. Pimple Popper: Breaking Out" premieres April 20th on Lifetime.
