Music: The 2025 Rock Hall Inductees Were Announced, Fan Vote Got Snubbed

The 2025 Rock Hall Inductees Were Announced, and the Fan Vote Got Snubbed

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2025 was announced last night on "American Idol". There are 13 inductees.

In the Performers category we have:  Bad Company . . . Chubby Checker . . . Joe Cocker . . . Cyndi Lauper . . . Outkast . . . Soundgarden . . . and The White Stripes.

Salt-N-Pepa and Warren Zevon will be inducted in the "Musical Influence" category.

Three more are being recognized in the "Musical Excellence" category: R&B songwriter and producer Thom Bell . . . pianist and organist Nicky Hopkins . . . and bassist Carol Kaye.

And the Ahmet Ertegun award will go to Lenny Waronker. He was once the president of Warner Bros. Records, before co-founding DreamWorks Records.

As for the snubs, Phish won the fan vote last week, with 330,000 votes. Bad Company came in second, and Billy Idol followed in third.

Despite the love from fans, Phish and Billy Idol didn't get in.

The fan vote doesn't have a ton of influence on who makes the Hall. It only counts for a SINGLE BALLOT, among roughly 1,200 that are cast.

This is just the second time that the winner of the fan vote didn't make it in. Previously, it was the Dave Matthews Band in 2020. But they finally got in last year.

The Induction Ceremony will take place November 8th in L.A. It will stream live on Disney+. It'll be available to stream on Hulu the next day, and will get a special broadcast on ABC at a later date.

LAPD Releases Audio, Body Cam Footage From Jillian Lauren Shooting Incident

Author Jillian Lauren, the wife of Weezer bassist Scott Shriner, was shot by Los Angeles police officers during a manhunt in the Eagle Rock neighborhood. Officers were searching for suspects involved in a nearby hit-and-run when they encountered Lauren, 51, in her backyard holding a handgun. Despite repeated commands to disarm, she allegedly chambered a round and pointed the weapon at officers, prompting them to open fire and strike her in the shoulder. Body camera and surveillance footage released by the LAPD shows officers issuing warnings before the shooting. In the videos, officers are heard shouting, "Ma'am, we're trying to help you. Put the gun down. You're going to get shot. It's the police." Lauren, known for her memoirs "Some Girls: My Life in a Harem" and "Everything You Ever Wanted," has not publicly commented on the incident. She and Shriner have been married since 2005 and have two adopted sons.
