Music News: Ozzy Osbourne Says He Can't Walk But He's Alive

Ozzy Osbourne Says He Can't Walk But He's Alive

Ozzy Osbourne will be hitting the stage for a final performance on July 5th, both as a solo artist, and with Black Sabbath. But you're probably wondering how it'll go down, considering his battle with Parkinson's disease.

On his SiriusXM radio show Wednesday, Ozzy said, quote, "I have made it to 2025. I can't walk, but you know what I was thinking over the holidays? For all my complaining, I'm still alive.

"I may be moaning that I can't walk but I look down the road and there's people that didn't do half as much as me and didn't make it."

Sharon did a press event with guitarist Tony Iommi and assured fans that Ozzy can still sing. Quote, "Parkinson's is a progressive disease. It's not something you can stabilize. It affects different parts of the body and it's affected his legs.

"But his voice is as good as it's ever been."

Tony added, quote, "This will do him good, to do this show. It really will. That's what it's all about, he wants to get out and do something."

Black Keys Finally Explain Last Year's Tour Cancellation

The Black Keys have shed a little light on their North American tour cancellation last year, and they say it’s management’s fault. Drummer Patrick Carney and Dan Auerbach said in an interview yesterday that it’s not easy to talk about difficulties with management companies since everything’s connected. Carney said, “The essential thing that we learned here was how many management companies are directly connected to a company that runs every single aspect of promotion in this country.” After last year’s tour was canceled, the band parted ways with Full Stop Management, led by former chair of Live Nation Irving Azoff. “I mean, we fired their a**. S**t happens,” Carney told Rolling Stone.

Another Study Says Music Is Getting Worse . . . Or at Least Simpler

If you're one of those people who think music was better "back in your day" . . . well, you might not just be an old curmudgeon. There's SCIENCE to back you up.

Researchers at Sapienza University in Rome took thousands of songs from six genres: Classical, Jazz, Rock, Pop, Hip-Hop, and Electronic . . . and examined them from their beginnings until the present day.

And what they found is that the music in all six genres has become significantly SIMPLER over the years. Yes, even Classical and Jazz.

And it probably has a lot to do with the fact that technology has made it so that pretty much anybody can make music.

The study says, quote, "The democratization of the composition process and the advent of new technologies and platforms have fostered the development of genres characterized by reduced complexity relative to earlier eras."

Or, to put it another way . . . those beats you made on your laptop last night are nowhere near as good as you think they are.
