According to a study published in "Scientific Reports", lyrics have become "simpler", "more repetitive", and "easier to understand" since the 1980s.
We're talking about all the major genres here: rap, country, pop, R&B, and rock.
The number of different words used within a song has decreased, particularly in rap and rock songs. But the number of words with three syllables or more has actually INCREASED in rap.
Researchers also found that lyrics have become more "emotional" and "personal" . . . and "anger-related words" have increased across all genres.
