Dairy Queen Is Celebrating the Start of Spring with Free Ice Cream Today
Today is the FIRST DAY of spring, even though it may not feel like it is in most of the country right now. But even if it's cold, you're not going to turn down FREE ice cream, right?
Dairy Queen is celebrating the arrival of spring with "Free Cone Day." Participating (non-mall) locations are giving out free small vanilla cones to ALL guests, with a limit of one per person.
If you're wondering WHY today is the first day of spring, it has nothing to do with the weather outside, or what a groundhog said last month.
In the Northern Hemisphere, Spring officially begins with the "vernal equinox," which occurs between March 19th and 21st, depending on the year.
An equinox happens twice a year, at the points when the Earth's tilt toward the sun makes it so that day and night last the same amount of time. In fact, the word equinox comes from two Latin words meaning equal and night.

CHICK-FIL-A is Launching A Spinoff Pizza Restaurant.
Chick-fil-A is going outside of the chicken box by launching a spinoff pizza restaurant beginning this week. The spinoff is called Little Blue Menu, a digital-only restaurant in College Park, MD that was launched in September 2023. The name comes from the late Chick-fil-A founder S. Truett Cathy who used blue menus at his first-ever restaurant The Dwarf House.
Little Blue Menu serves classic Chick-fil-A items as well as burgers, onion rings, Brussels sprouts, cinnamon rolls, and chicken wings, but this week they will start offering five new pizzas and a calzone-inspired item. Stuart Tracy, Senior Culinary Lead Developer for the company says “We’ve noticed our customers getting creative with Chick-fil-A ingredients on pizzas at home, so we’ve decided to jump on board!”
In addition to the spinoff restaurant, Chick-fil-A is opening its first-ever mobile pickup location on March 21 in New York City. This store won’t offer dine-in services or seating and orders can be placed on Chick-fil-A’s app and website. The chain is still serving Mango Passion beverages that showed up on menus in January, but they will only be available for a limited time.

DOMINO’S Has 50% of All Menu-Priced Pizzas Through March 24.
Domino’s has a new 50 percent off all menu-priced pizzas offer through March 24 to help celebrate the annual men’s and women’s March Madness basketball tournaments. The deal is available by ordering online at dominos.com and using Domino’s mobile app.
In addition to the 50 percent off deal, here are some interesting facts about Domino’s and Basketball:
- During the men’s 2023 national semifinals and championship games Domino’s sold more than 3 million pizzas.
- Domino’s produced enough dough to match the weight of more than 22 million basketballs during the 2023 men’s and women’s basketball tournaments.
- It takes 69 Domino’s pizza boxes stacked from the floor of a basketball court to reach the hoop, which is placed at 10 feet.
- It takes more than 4,500 Domino’s pizza boxes to cover a 4,600-square-foot basketball court.
