A World Record Blueberry Is the Size of a Ping Pong Ball

If the mad scientists behind this keep it up, we might be eating blueberries like apples soon . . .

A company in Australia called Costa Berries just unveiled the largest blueberry ever grown . . . about the size of a ping pong ball.

A normal blueberry only weighs a gram or two. This one's 10 to 20 times heavier than that at 20.4 grams, or just under an ounce.

They picked it in November, and it sat in a deep freezer for three months while they waited on Guinness to verify it. The old record was 16.2 grams, so this one's 26% heavier.

They've been working on breeding them to be bigger, because they say there's a lot of consumer demand for larger blueberries.

Because of that demand, it might not be long before we see an even bigger blueberry than this. The old record only stood for a little over three years.

McDonald's Isn't Selling French Fry Perfume . . . Yet

Fragrances can be a slippery slope . . . and everyone knows someone who overdoes it. But I guess it depends what it smells like.

Last week, McDonald's Japan shared an image on social media . . . teasing a McDonald's French fry PERFUME. It looked like a normal glass bottle, encased within classic McDonald's French fry packaging.

There were actually three fragrances: Plum nori seaweed salt . . . garlic black pepper mayo seasoning . . . and one simply smells like salted McFries.

People online got excited . . . but a spokesperson for McDonald's Japan threw cold water on it . . . saying, quote, "The image was part of a promotion for the limited-time flavored fries product, and we would like people to enjoy the scent of fries and flavors. This perfume is not actually manufactured or sold."

The "flavored fries product" is just in Japan . . . but maybe all the attention will encourage them to make the PERFUME a reality . . . in the U.S.

For what it's worth, this wouldn't be the first French fry perfume.

A couple years ago, the Idaho Potato Commission created a limited-edition POTATO PERFUME that smells like "a fresh plate of French fries." It sold out almost immediately.

Other fast food joints have done similar things: KFC once had a fried chicken scent . . . Pizza Hut had a pizza perfume . . . and Burger King Japan briefly had a scent called "Flame-Grilled Fragrance," which smelled just like a Whopper.

Even McDonald's in America released a candle pack back in 2020 with six custom-scented candles inspired by Quarter Pounder ingredients: Bun, Ketchup, Pickle, Cheese, Onion, and 100% Fresh Beef.
