The Venetian hotel and casino in Las Vegas is supposed to conjure the essence of Venice, Italy. But for one recent guest, it conjured some extreme pain in his genitals.
A man from California named Michael says he's considering legal action after he was stung by an orange scorpion while staying at the Venetian back in December.
He woke up at around 8:00 A.M. in extreme pain. He said, "I just felt like somebody stabbing me in my private area. It felt like a sharp glass or a knife."
Michael ran into the bathroom and took off his clothes, and saw a scorpion hanging on the front of his underwear. He checked out that day, and the hotel comped the room.
The man says he doesn't know how the scorpion got there . . . only that it was under the covers with him. He believes the scorpion was in the bed when he got there, and that it wasn't something HE brought into the room.
He went to the hospital, and they confirmed it was a scorpion sting. Michael apparently made a full recovery physically, but his lawyer says he has trauma, so they're considering a lawsuit.
The Venetian released this vague statement: "The resort has protocols for all incidents and we can confirm they were followed in this incident."
