A Kid Promised to Eat a Spoonful of Peanut Butter for Every 50 Followers, and He's Up Over 115,000

It's amazing what qualifies as a good career decision in 2024 . . .

Last month, a teenager in Iowa named Eli Mielke launched an Instagram account called "PeanutButterEater16" . . . and promised to eat one tablespoon of peanut butter for every 50 followers he got.

But he quickly found himself in a jam . . . no pun intended . . . after more than 100,000 people followed him in a single week.

He's currently sitting at around 115,000, which would be 2,300 spoonfuls or 72 16-ounce jars. But thankfully he and his parents thought better of it.

He stuck with the plan until Day Six, when 20,000 people followed him overnight. At that point, he said he'd eat a cup of peanut butter . . . or half a jar . . . for every 10,000 followers he got. But even that's been a challenge.

His mom says he's gone through seven large, 64-ounce jars in the past month, which is 28 POUNDS. But it sounds like a lot of it wasn't eaten. When he hit 100,000, he celebrated with a video where he covered himself in peanut butter.

His brand of choice is Skippy, so they just sent him a care package filled with snacks and swag. He's started posting paid content too, like a video where he eats peanut butter while wearing a brand's sunglasses.

He's also already selling merch, and just changed the challenge again. Now he's eating a spoonful of peanut butter for every 50 sales he gets.
