Will Ferrell met his good friend Harper Steele 30 years ago, when he joined the cast of "Saturday Night Live" in 1995. Steele had joined the show that same year as a writer.
Well, Harper transitioned to female in 2022 and informed friends with an email that had the headline, "Here's a Weird One."
Will didn't know anything about the trans community, so he decided to take a road trip across the country with Harper and turn it into a movie. It's called "Will & Harper," and they brought it to Sundance to find a distributor.
Will says, quote, "I had met trans people, but I didn't have anyone personally in my life. So this was all new territory for me, which is why I think this film is so exciting for us to kind of put out there in the world.
"It's a chance all of us in the cis community to be able to ask questions and also just to listen and be there as a friend to discuss this journey."
