Criminals: Sentencing For Guy Who Stole the "The Wizard of Oz Slippers

Sentencing For The Guy Who Stole the Ruby Slippers from "The Wizard of Oz" Is Next Week.

The man who stole Dorothy's ruby slippers from "The Wizard of Oz" has finally revealed why he did it.

The crook is a career criminal named Terry Martin. He lifted the shoes from the Judy Garland Museum in 2005. But NOT because he knew anything about their cultural significance.

Terry had never even seen the movie. A mob associate hired him to steal them so they could cash in on the RUBIES. He'd heard the shoes were insured for $1 million, so he assumed the gems were real.

They're NOT, of course. They're made of glass. After delivering the slippers to the guy who hired him, Terry retired from a life of crime.

But they were recovered in 2018, and Terry was charged with stealing them. He'll be sentenced a week from today.

Thieves Cut Down a Radio Broadcast Tower . . . to Steal $100 Worth of Copper?

This is like smashing all the windows of a Rolls-Royce . . . to steal a copy of Green Day's "Dookie" on CD.

A radio station in southeastern Oklahoma is off the air after the owners say thieves cut down a broadcast tower. They were after the copper in the cables.

But get this: They cut up about 80 to 100 feet of copper and hauled it off, but that's only worth about 100 bucks. However . . . the damage they caused to the broadcast tower is around HALF A MILLION BUCKS.

This happened last week. The station unexpectedly went off the air on Monday, and they initially thought it was because of the weather . . . but when they saw the tower they realized there was foul play involved.

The suspects got away . . . for now . . . but the authorities are working with local scrap yards to try to track them down.
