MUSIC NEWS: Jelly Roll Spoke to Congress About Fentanyl

Jelly Roll Spoke to Congress About Fentanyl

It seems like Jelly Roll is everywhere nowadays, so why not Congress? Seriously. Mr. Roll was on Capitol Hill yesterday to testify before a Senate committee on the fentanyl epidemic.

Jelly Roll said that every day, 190 people overdose and die. That's about how many people fit in a 737.

He added, quote, "Could you imagine the national media attention it would get if they were reporting that a plane was crashing every single day and killing 190 people?"

He added that as a former drug dealer, he has a unique perspective because he used to be, quote, "part of the problem."

He also said, quote, "I've attended more funerals than I care to share with y'all. I could sit here and cry for days about the caskets I've carried of people I love dearly, deeply in my soul. Good people. Not just drug addicts."

And he spoke about his daughter, whose mother is an addict. Quote, "Every day, I get to look in the eyes of a victim in my household of the effects of drugs. Every. Single. Day."

Jelly Roll told the Senators that he's not a Republican or a Democrat, and really isn't political at all.

But he told them that people, quote, "crave reassurance that their elected officials actually care more about human life than they do about ideology and partisanship."

This is a big week for heavy metal vets Disturbed.

The previously-announced collab between the band and Heart icon Ann Wilson, “Don’t Tell Me,” has dropped as of this morning.

The group surprised fans with a special teaser yesterday. And this isn’t the only news out of Disturbed’s camp… it looks like their frontman has found love. On Wednesday, frontman David Draiman shared a photo with his new “lady,” identified as Sarah Uli. The new romance follows the rocker’s divorce from his wife Lena Draiman with whom he had son Samuel.

Halestorm’s Lzzy Hale chimed in on the rocker’s post, saying “David you are such a beautiful soul. Im (sic) so glad u have found someone who makes you happy.” Uli reposted the image with a short caption of her own: “You (followed by a heart emoji).”

Check out Draiman’s post below and take a listen to “Don’t Tell Me (feat. Ann Wilson)” available now.
