The Hot Chili Peppers Shock Fans By Cancelling Holiday Performance

Fans of the Red Hot Chili Peppers might feel like their band is putting on their Grinch costume this year. Just days out from a scheduled gig at a radio station Christmas show, the rockers withdrew for reasons that aren’t super specific.

“It is with deep regret that we will not be able to perform this weekend,” confirmed the band on social media. “A band member was injured, preventing us from being able to perform for at least (six) weeks.” But the Anthony Keidis-led group didn’t tell followers “who” or “how” their “band member” was hurt.

Instead, the band told fans to “hang on to your ticket,” and RHCP would “make it up to you.” But at least this time, they gave specifics… they promised fans a make-up engagement at The Forum in LA on March 2nd, 2024.

And that’s one mantra that Korn guitarist Brian “Head” Welch seems to have taken to heart… as the rocker has launched his own record label. The strummer joined forces with his manager, David W. Williams, to kick off XOVR Records (pronounced “Crossover Records”). And they’ve already got an act signed… Christian alt-metal icons are Spoken. That band’s newest album, “Reflection,” will drop on March 15th and will be XOVR’s first release.

Jelly Roll and The Black Keys Once Almost Brawled

Who even knew there was a Jelly Roll/Black Keys feud - one that actually came close to getting physical?

As the Keys tell it, they and Jelly Roll were at the same event in Nashville way back in 2010. Drummer Patrick Carney says, "I was with a friend of ours, Harmony Korine, we were in Nashville at this hip-hop show," Carney said. "Yelawolf was just coming out, starting to perform, and I went, and Jelly Roll was there." Carney said Jelly Roll overheard something Korine said and assumed it was about him. Now, Jelly seems like a gentle teddy bear these days, but back then he wasn't far removed from his stint behind bars - and he was still only 26, so you know there was some "young man 'tude" at play. 

"Jelly Roll thought we were making fun of him, and he just rolled up on me and just scared the living crap out of me," Carney said. "Like, 'Do you wanna go?' And I was like 'Nope, I'm good dude, nice to meet you, though." Probably the best approach when someone the size of Jelly comes up to you ready to fight. The two acts recently shared a festival stage, and the Black Keys say they have never discussed the 2010 incident. Carney does believe they're "cool" now when it comes to getting along with Jelly Roll. "He seems a lot different," Carney said. "He was angry then."

Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa was on ESPN's ManningCast to discuss football with Peyton and Eli Manning. He also decided to pull out a guitar and play a little of Eric Clapton's "Tears in Heaven." He wasn't bad.

 

 

Word got around, and people suggested Tua and Darius Rucker have a "jam session." Darius saw it on X and wrote, "I'm in." And then Tua reTweeted that, along with some rock and roll emojis.

Garth Brooks on Being in the "Spinal Tap" Sequel

 

 

Garth Brooks is one of the surprise guests of the "Spinal Tap" sequel. They won't start filming until February but that didn't stop somebody from asking Garth to share details.

 

 

He said he CAN'T say anything because he's been "sworn into secrecy and silence." Then he added, quote, "I will tell you this. If you think you have laughed before, Jiminy Christmas. [It's] gonna be neat to be a part of it."
