Freddy Krueger's Sweater Is Red and Green Because of Science

No, Freddy Krueger's sweater in "A Nightmare on Elm Street" is NOT red and green because of Christmas.  And it wasn't a random choice, either.

Director Wes Craven chose that color combination because of SCIENCE.

He read in a scientific article that the combo is the most difficult for the human eye to see, so he figured it would make even Freddy's clothes uncomfortable to watch.

Not to get TOO science-y on you, but the combinations of red with green and yellow with blue are considered "forbidden colors."

Basically, they cancel each other out in the eye, making them impossible to see at the same time.
