Elon Musk Is Starting to Test Charging for "X"

Elon Musk said he was thinking about charging users to be on X . . . and now he's actually doing it.  He started testing the new plan this week in New Zealand and the Philippines.

Elon claims he's not being greedy.  He says charging people is, quote, "the only way to fight bots without blocking real users.  This won't stop bots completely, but it will be 1000 times harder to manipulate the platform."

Also, he's only charging a dollar . . . PER YEAR.

There already is a charge in the U.S. for "X Premium," which costs $11 a month and includes additional perks, like a verified account checkmark.
