A Cop That Was Praised by MADD for His DUI Arrests . . . Was Arrested for DUI
If anyone would know the dangers of drinking and driving, it's a cop . . . especially one known for making DUI arrests.
A police officer in the Sacramento area named Raymond Barrantes has been recognized by Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) for his work in arresting drunk drivers. He's even received an award for it.
But over the weekend, Raymond was arrested for DUI himself. He was pulled over just before noon on Saturday . . . and he was off-duty at the time. It's unclear why he was pulled over, but the cop "suspected" he was drunk.
A MADD program specialist said, "I'm surprised constantly by who gets drunk driving arrests. One of the things we know is drunk driving is an across-the-board issue. Unfortunately, it hits every work situation."
Raymond has worked for the department for about nine years. He's on paid administrative leave while the department investigates the situation.
