It's Ice Cream Cone Day, and There Was a Major Ice Cream Spill in Pennsylvania
It's National Ice Cream Cone Day . . . so you could spend the LAST official evening of summer going out to grab a cone. Tomorrow is the first day of fall.
Ice cream cones are one of the best vessels to hold ice cream . . . they're definitely the tastiest . . . and apparently, they aren't LESS spill-resistant than giant semi-trucks.
On Wednesday, a truck was hauling ice cream on the Pennsylvania Turnpike, when it was hit by another truck that was attempting to pass it. The driver of the truck with the ice cream lost control, and the truck overturned.
Ice cream spilled EVERYWHERE . . . and the delicious ice cream slick actually forced officials to close that part of the road for SIX HOURS so it could be cleaned up.
It was a hit-and-run, and police are still looking for the other driver. The driver of the truck with the ice cream suffered minor injuries.

The Best Cities in America for Coffee... Houston comes in at 27
There's some new research that looked into the best cities in America for coffee. This is a total from three years ago, when we were emptying our cupboards looking for that can of Maxwell House from 2006.
They compared 100 of the largest U.S. cities across 12 metrics, including the number of coffee shops and roasters . . . the number of coffee drinkers . . . the average prices in the area . . . and local coffee-related events.
In the end, San Francisco came in FIRST, followed by Portland, Oregon . . . Seattle . . . Orlando . . . Honolulu . . . Tampa . . . Austin, Texas . . . Oakland . . . New Orleans . . . and Pittsburgh.
If you're fine with two-day-old gas station coffee, Toledo, Ohio, came in dead last out of the 100 cities they looked at.
A new survey by the National Coffee Association found that 63% of Americans drink coffee every day. The average coffee drinker consumes three cups daily.

Trader Joe’s is known for its unique products and the way they are presented at their stores with handwritten signs and playful attitude and you won’t find comparable items at other major grocery retailers. EatThis,NotThat has come up with 10 of the most unique foods that you can find at TJ’s right now that you may want to try for yourself.
- Perfectly Pickled Pups – this item showed up on shelves in February of this year and features dill pickle-infused miniature beef franks that are wrapped in dill pickle-flavored batter and breading. Customers recommend dipping them in mustard or ketchup or even Trader Joe’s Dill Pickle Mustard which is a seasonal item only.
- Pickle Curds – Trader Joe’s Pickle Curds were introduced in July and feature fresh cheese coated in pickle spices. One TJ’s fan, @traderjoeslist commented “It says ‘Enjoy within seven days’ and I’m probably going to enjoy this within one-to-two days—the whole bag.”
- Chips in a Pickle – these dill pickle-flavored potato chips go for $2.99 a bag and showed up on shelves in 2021. One Redittor said “I absolutely love these. I will routinely buy a few bags just to have them around in case I get a craving.” Another comment was “Toss them on your sandwich, thank me later.”
- Spicy Porkless Plant-Based Snack Rinds – these rinds are baked instead of fried and are made with rice meal, pea protein, and pea flour. They are coated with paprika, cayenne, and a “pinch” of habanero pepper power to give an added kick of spice. @mrs_traderjoescart reviewed them and said, “I definitely didn’t find these to be too spicy but the heat built up as I plowed through the bag (yes, plowed).”
- Sour Cream & Onion Flavored Rings – this TJ product showed up in the spring of 2022 and is similar to a Funyun but with “wayyy more flavor and seasoning” according to @traderjoesfoodreview. A bag goes for $2.49 and the rings are baked, gluten-free, and made with rice meal, red lentils, and sour cream and onion seasoning.
- Ketchup Flavored Sprinkle Seasoning Blend – the new Ketchup Flavored Seasoning was introduced earlier this year and consists of tomato powder, kosher salt, sugar, vinegar powder, onion powder, and garlic powder. It’s priced at $2.99 and can be sprinkled on everything from popcorn, chips, roasted potatoes and eggs.
- Pizza Flavored Seasoning Blend – this blend was also introduced this year and aims to capture the essence of pizza with multiple seasonings. It goes for $2.99 and TJ’s recommends sprinkling it on everything from french fries, roasted cauliflower, soups, scrambled eggs, popcorn, pretzels and chips.
- Vegetarian Meatless Cheeseburger Pizza - this unusual pizza is priced at $5.99 and contains cheddar cheese, diced red onion and tomato, sliced sweet pickles, tangy burger sauce along with seasoned plant-based protein crumbles. One Redditor said “This one is surprisingly delicious. All flavors on point. People that were skeptical actually approved!”
- Crunchy Chili Onion Peanuts – Trader Joe’s originally offered their iconic Crunchy Chili Onion and they have expanded the concept to a snack with this item. Trader Joe’s website says “…[T]he subtly savory nuttiness of peanuts provides both an ideal method of delivery for our Crunchy Chili Onion, and adds yet another layer of flavor complexity to its marvelous mix of garlic, umami, and spice.”
- Buffalo Style Seasoned Almonds – this product was introduced in 2022 shortly after Spicy Buffalo Cheddar was launched. It consists of California-grown dry roasted almonds coated in a buffalo-style seasoning made with vinegar powder, red pepper, garlic powder, sea salt, capsicum, and paprika.
