Is Jimmy Fallon's "Tonight Show" a Toxic Workplace?

Jimmy Fallon's "Tonight Show" is the latest in a LONG line of TV shows being accused of having a toxic work environment.

"Rolling Stone" spoke to several past and current staffers who say there was a culture of fear and anxiety, largely due to Jimmy's erratic behavior.

Supposedly, they never knew if they were getting the cheerful and friendly Jimmy or the belligerent and mean version, who would degrade and insult his employees.

There have been rumors about Jimmy's drinking for years, and some staffers claim to have witnessed him appearing drunk or smelling like booze.  Others say his behavior seemed to depend on whether or not he appeared hungover.

Other upper-level staff could be just as rotten as Jimmy.  There was also a lot of turnover at that level.  The show has had nine different showrunners over nine years.

Even when employees complained, nothing was done.  And many of them said the job severely affected their mental health.

NBC stated in response to the report but they didn't mention Jimmy by name.  They said quote, "We are incredibly proud of 'The Tonight Show', and providing a respectful working environment is a top priority."

But Jimmy held a Zoom meeting with staff yesterday, where he said, quote, "It's embarrassing and I feel so bad.  Sorry if I embarrassed you and your family and friends.

"I feel so bad I can't even tell you . . . I want this show to be fun.  It should be inclusive for everybody."
