A Man Robbed a Bank by Just Walking Off with a Bag of Money Left Outside?
There are people who create ELABORATE SCHEMES for robbing banks . . . and then there's this guy, who had ZERO plan.
A 56-year-old man in Trumbull, Connecticut named Robert Withington has been charged with larceny, after he saw a bag of money outside a bank a few months ago . . . picked it up . . . and walked off with it.
It was a bank deposit bag with the bank's insignia, and the money was accidentally dropped by an employee of Trumbull's tax collector office. There was about $5,000 in cash inside.
The police investigated and determined that Robert had taken it. He later admitted that he was at the bank . . . saw the bag . . . and walked off with it. He said he figured it was "finders keepers," and he had no obligation to return it.
That might work for a $20 bill on the sidewalk, which ANYONE could've dropped. But the bag clearly belonged to the bank, and there were documents inside that showed the money was tax funds from the town of Trumbull.
