Music News: The Killers Apologized for Bringing a Russian Guy Onstage

The Killers Apologized for Bringing a Russian Guy Onstage During a Show in the Country of Georgia

The Killers damn near caused an international incident during a show in Georgia on Tuesday when they brought a Russian guy onstage to play drums.

Russia invaded Georgia in 2008 and still occupies some of its former territory.  And Russia's invasion of Ukraine has made relations with Georgia even worse.

So when Brandon Flowers introduced the guy and encouraged the crowd to treat him as their "brother," . . . he was met with a round of BOOS.

He tried to smooth things over by saying, quote, "You can't recognize if someone's your brother?  Is he, not your brother?  Am I, not your brother, being from America?"

He added, quote, "One of the things that we have come to appreciate about being in this band is it brings people together.  And tonight, I want us to celebrate that we're here together, and I don't want it to turn ugly."

Well, Brandon didn't get his "Rocky 4" moment.  The crowd continued to boo, and many people walked out.

After the show, The Killers issued an apology.  They said, quote, "We recognize that a comment, meant to suggest that all of The Killers' audience and fans are 'brothers and sisters,' could be misconstrued.

"We did not mean to upset anyone, and we apologize.  We stand with you and hope to return soon."

He says, quote, "I don't have pizazz.  You watch PrinceMichael JacksonLady Gaga . . . Like, all of these amazing performers, I'm just not that.  I'm not gonna have dancers on stage.  I'm not gonna have fireworks and blah blah . . .
