Alanis Morissette and Foo Fighters Pay Tribute To Sinead O'Connor

As the tributes to Sinead O’Connor continue to pour in, the Foo Fighters gave their own special tribute to the late singer by bringing out Alanis Morissette Saturday night during the band’s set at Japan’s Fuji Rock Festival to sing O’Connor’s 1987 hit “Mandinka”. “We’re singing this song for a reason tonight,” Dave Grohl said as Morissette took the stage. She then added, “For a beautiful woman with high intelligence and deep empathy, way ahead of her time, who is no longer with us. This is for her.”

Morissette belted out the song from the 1987 album “The Lion and the Cobra,” and the Foo Fighters backed her up. At the end of the song, a huge picture of O’Connor, who recently died at the age of 56, appeared on a giant screen onstage behind them.

Grohl and Morissette join numerous other performers who paid tribute to the Irish singer recently. Tori Amos, Pink and Brandi Carlile, Fall Out Boy, and R.E.M’s Michael Stipe all shared their version of Sinead’s tracks in the past week.

Meanwhile, it has also been revealed that O’Connor had been working on a new album, confirming she was finishing the follow-up to 2014’s “I’m Not Bossy, I’m The Boss”, which she was hoping to release in the early part of next year. She also said a world tour for next year was in the works, which would have been her first live show in almost nearly five years.

Animal From "The Muppets" Played Drums With My Morning Jacket At the Festival.

There are surprise guests, and then there are Muppet surprise guests. Animal from the Muppets made an appearance with My Morning Jacket Friday at the Newport Folk Festival in Rhode Island.

Animal, best known as the wild drummer for “Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem”, greeted the audience saying, "Surprise!" followed by chants of "My Morning Jacket! My Morning Jacket!" The band featured their furry friend during their set closer, “One Big Holiday”. Meanwhile, fun fact: it’s not “Electric Mayhem’s” first time at this rodeo. The idea for their TV series actually came from a set they did at the Outside Lands music fest in 2016.

Along with welcoming the fuzzy drummer to the stage, they also welcomed singer/songwriter Maggie Rogers to the stage for a cover of Fleetwood Mac’s “Say You Love Me’, and country singer Margo Price to perform a cover of Carole King’s “I Feel The Earth Move”.
