An Amusement Park Ride Malfunctioned and Wouldn't Stop

In every line for an amusement park ride, there's that one person who's nervous and wants to back out.  Hopefully, they did before this one . . .

A ride in New York malfunctioned last weekend and WOULDN'T STOP.  It happened at Playland Park, just outside New York City.

The ride is called "Music Express."  It's a common one at fairs and carnivals.  You go in a circle . . . forward or reverse . . . and usually with music blaring.

It got stuck going BACKWARDS at full speed, and the emergency shut-off didn't work.  Maintenance workers eventually stopped it by disconnecting the power.

The ride usually lasts two to three minutes but goes at least twice that long.  A few reports said over TEN minutes.  Whatever it was, one guy said it felt like "an eternity."  Kids were crying after the ride, and parents were upset.  Luckily, no one got hurt, though.

The park blamed it on an "electrical malfunction."  They shut the ride down and reached out to the manufacturer to make sure it doesn't happen again.
