Happy National French Fry Day . . . or is it tomorrow? There is a weird controversy this year . . .
One year ago, the fast food joint Checkers petitioned the website "National Day Calendar" to change it, so it would always fall on the second FRI-day in July.
National Day took them up and listed it as the 14th of this year. But everyone else ignored it. So we've got two French Fry Days back-to-back this time.
Almost everyone is running their deals TODAY though . . .
1. McDonald's is giving out free fries . . . any size . . . no purchase necessary. You just have to order through their app.
2. Burger King is giving out free fries too, also any size. But you have to buy something else. Again, only through their app.
3. Wendy's has the same deal as Burger King, but theirs runs through July 16th.
4. Heinz teamed up with Uber Eats on a deal. You can get $5.70 off certain orders that include fries. Uber Eats has a list of participating restaurants.
5. Smashburger has free fries with any purchase. That one doesn't require you to order through their app.
6. Fatburger has free fries with any purchase through the 16th if you mention the promo. If you order online, use the code "FrenchFryDay23".
7. White Castle has a buy-one-get-one coupon for a free small fry. Meanwhile, fellow tiny-burger-joint Krystal is giving out medium fries. You have to order through their app and use the code "OurFriesSlay".
8. Checkers and its sister company Rally's have a deal too. But thanks to their "FRI-day" stunt, it starts tomorrow. Through the 16th, rewards members can get a free extra-large fry, no purchase necessary.
