When Lainey Wilson performed on "American Idol" in May it was kind of a homecoming. Strike that. Let's call it "returning to the scene of the crime." The crime is how many times "Idol" rejected her in the past.
She talked about it in an interview BEFORE the May appearance.
Quote, "I finally made it on 'American Idol'. I tried out seven times. I took the long way around, but finally made it. I never made it past the first round."
"Idol" isn't the only show that was blind to her potential.
She adds, quote, "I also tried out for 'The Voice.' I'm just grateful my story ended the way that it did."
