Did An NBA Player's Security Assault Britney Spears?

Britney Spears says she was ASSAULTED in Las Vegas Wednesday night by a security guard for the San Antonio Spurs after she tried to approach Victor Wembanyama.

Britney and Victor both happened to be walking into a restaurant called Catch at the same time.  And apparently, Britney is a fan, so she weaseled her way into his entourage and tried to get his attention.

But as she touched him, the security guy backhanded her, knocking her sunglasses off.

Now, there are a few different stories about how it went down.  One source claims the guy hit Britney's HAND, causing her to hit HERSELF in the face.  That same source also claims Britney was knocked to the ground.

But a witness who was interviewed by TMZ says it was the guard's hand that connected with Britney's face, and the glasses flew off, but he didn't see her fall.

He also says that Britney was trying to get Victor's attention by saying, "Excuse me, sir" . . . in a BRITISH ACCENT.

And after the slap, she screamed, "This is [effing] America!"  Also, in the British accent.

In an interview yesterday, Victor said he didn't know what happened.  He just remembers a woman grabbing him from behind, but security told him to keep walking.  He didn't even know it was Britney.

At least one source claims that members of Victor's security detail apologized to Britney, and she accepted.  But she's definitely not over it.

In an Instagram post last night, Britney said she WAS backhanded after simply tapping Victor on the shoulder.

She added, quote, "I get swarmed by people all the time.  In fact, that night I was swarmed by a group of at least 20 fans.

My security team didn't hit any of them."

Police are investigating.
