Music News: Metallica Releases Surprise Studio EP

Metallica Releases Surprise Studio EP

Hot on the heels of both the release of their 11th album, “72 Seasons,” and the launch of their current world tour, “M72 World Tour,” Metallica has given us even more new stuff. Kind of. The living rock legends have surprised fans by releasing “The Amsterdam Sessions.”

The EP contains both live and studio sessions the band recorded during their stop in Amsterdam on the current jaunt. It includes four songs the band laid down on April 18th, including recent hits “Lux Aeterna” and “If Darkness Had A Son.”

This is the first live recording of “If Darkness…” but the second for “Lux” following a version from their 2022 charity event, Helping Hands. The new four-track collection dropped yesterday on Amazon Music.

Slipknot Fans Are Trying To Uncover New Band Member: Last week, we brought you the abrupt news that longtime Slipknot keyboard player Craig Jones left the metal band without explanation. Naturally, fans got curious after the band immediately deleted their post on Jones’ departure. Theories are running rampant online, with two popular ones pulling ahead of the pack. The first is that Jones hasn’t actually left Slipknot but is instead “re-branding” himself as a new persona. Still, others believe that either former Korn and Evanescence player Zac Baird or Downthesun’s Nathan Church has taken the spot. Church has been spotted with the band in the past, but for now, Slipknot is staying quiet.

Rammstein's Till Lindemann Officially Under Investigation.

Rammstein has come under fire after multiple allegations of sexually inappropriate behavior by frontman Till Lindeman. We also told you the band wasted no time in denying the accusations.

But someone in Germany is taking the victim’s claims super seriously, as the Rammstein singer is now officially under investigation. Berlin prosecutors launched a probe into Lindemann’s actions involving “several complaints filed by third parties.”

"Preliminary proceedings have been initiated against Till Lindemann on allegations relating to sexual offenses and the distribution of narcotics," wrote prosecutors in a statement, referencing a fan who attended a recent Rammstein show in Lithuania. Dutch Symphonic Metal Group Epica  Confirms New Music Is In Progress

Dutch symphonic metal group Epica has been relatively quiet since their 2021 album “Omega.” But that all seems to be changing as two band members confirmed at Download Festival that the band is currently working on new music.

"We already started working on new music,” revealed guitarist Mark Jansen. “It's going well, and I'm in a flow of inspiration." Fellow guitarist Isaac Delahaye has admitted having a young child has hindered his creativity, but he admits he’s been thinking about “what can I do to break out of the usual way of writing?”

“All the bandmembers start writing songs in their home studio by themselves,” revealed lead singer Simone Simons in a recent interview. “When inspiration strikes, we just start writing. But we're gonna schedule writing sessions. And we're all excited to write a new record."
