Was Jewel's National Anthem at the Indy 500 a Disaster?  

Jewel delivered the national anthem at the Indy 500 yesterday, and it was . . . different. 

 

 

She slowed it down a little and added some soul . . . maybe even a little country flavor, with only her acoustic guitar to accompany her.

 

 

Not surprisingly, there are people complaining that it was the absolute worst thing they've ever heard . . . and others calling it brilliant.  

 

Whatever the case, this isn't the first time she's performed the anthem like this.  She did a similar version at the NBA All-Star Game back in February.

I thought it was pretty good. She has a unique voice, so you pay her to attend your event. Her guitar may have been a little out of tune. But this is VERY on-brand for her. Lay off her. Rod
