Pantera Returns To the US For the First Time In 22 Years.

Pantera might have had a rocky start during their return, but the newly re-formed band has soldiered on. Despite backlash over past comments made by lead singer Philip Anselmo and bassist Rex Brown leaving the first leg of the tour due to covid, Pantera has played their first US show in 22 years.

OG members Anselmo and Brown, joined by new members Zakk Wylde (guitar) and Charlie Benante (drums), played the Thunder Beach Motorcycle Rally in Panama City, FL over the weekend. This marked the band’s first appearance in the US since playing in Tacoma, WA on July 25, 2001.

Pantera broke up in 2003, not long before the death of founding member “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott. Co-founder Vinnie Paul also died in 2018 from a heart condition. The reunion has been given a blessing by both late rockers’ estates. Check out some fan-shot footage of the US show on the right.

Billy Corgan Paid Ransom To Stop Music Leak

Last Friday, Smashing Pumpkins released their long-awaited three-part, space-themed rock opera, “ATUM,” around the globe. But frontman Billy Corgan admitted there was a close-call six months ago that almost spoiled the party.

According to the rocker, a hacker seized some of the tunes from “ATUM” and held them for ransom. “They were all probably the most catchy, single-y type songs,” admitted Corgan. “So it’s like, not only is it six months too early, you’re pretty much giving away the album before you even have a chance to set your feet into the ground.”

The rocker confessed that he paid the money the hacker demanded “out of my pocket” to ensure the tracks wouldn’t be released too early. But, he said eventually the FBI got involved and- while he doesn’t know the hacker’s fate- they at least didn’t ruin the album.

The 1975's Matt Healy Duets With Phoebe Bridgers At Taylor Swift's Show

Fans have been keeping a close eye on The 1975’s Matty Healy after rumors began swirling he and Taylor Swift might be flirting with a new romance. And events this past weekend didn’t do anything to stop those rumors from flying.

The 1975’s frontman joined Swift’s opening act, Phoebe Bridgers, on-stage during a stop on the “Eras” tour. Healy joined on guitar for Bridgers’s set, and fans went wild. Bridgers and The 1975/Healy have collaborated many times before, including a 2020 album and appearances at each other’s shows.

Swift herself has joined The 1975 during its UK tour last year. During this weekend’s show, Healy fueled the gossip fire about a potential romance by explaining why he was breaking his frequent habit of kissing fans in the audience. “I’m not kissing anyone in front of Taylor Swift,” explained the rocker. “In front of the queen? Have some respect.”
