A 52-Year-Old Keyed a Car with a Butter Knife and Called It a "Spring Break Mistake."
Most people mature with age, but not all of us: A 52-year-old guy from Missouri got arrested in Florida on Thursday for keying someone's car . . . and he tried to downplay it as a "spring break mistake."
His name is Clifford Edwards. He's a real estate exec at a firm in Springfield, Missouri, and he was apparently in town on vacation.
Last Thursday night, a couple noticed him standing near their 2023 Nissan Altima outside a restaurant. And when they confronted him, he laughed and ran away.
It's unclear if they'd had a run-in with him earlier or if it was random. But it turned out he'd done more than $1,000 in damage to the side of their car by scratching it up with a BUTTER KNIFE.
The car was parked outside a restaurant called the Toasted Monkey, so we assume that's where the butter knife came from. Clifford's name was on the waitlist. So they had his phone number, and that's how cops tracked him down.
He admitted to everything . . . and described it as a "spring break mistake." They arrested him for felony criminal mischief. His wife had to bail him out.
