Lynyrd Skynyrd Guitarist Gary Rossington Died
Original Lynyrd Skynyrd guitarist Gary Rossington passed away. He was 71 years old.
Rossington was the longest-serving band member and the last original member. The band said, quote, "Gary is now with his Skynyrd brothers and family in heaven and playing it pretty, like he always does."
Gary had writing credits on several of Skynyrd's classic tracks, including "Sweet Home Alabama," "Simple Man," "What's Your Name," "Don't Ask Me No Questions," "Gimme Back My Bullets," and "Things Goin' On."
Rossington suffered serious injuries in the 1977 plane crash that killed several of his bandmates and put Skynyrd on hiatus for a decade.
Before they reunited, he formed and played in the underrated Rossington Collins Band.
Rossington suffered a heart attack in 2015 and had emergency surgery in 2021 . . . but he continued playing in the band up until his death.

Glastonbury Festival Lineup Set.
The legendary Glastonbury Festival in the UK has announced its impressive line-up. Arctic Monkeys will share featured duties with Guns ‘N Roses this year, while Elton John will perform the final show of his farewell tour at the fest.
Four-time GRAMMY winner Lizzo is set to open for Axl Rose’s Guns ‘N Roses, though she is not considered a headliner at this event. Other acts scheduled for the June 21-25 show include The Chicks, Lil Nas X, and Lana del Rey.
This year’s festival, however, has already caught some controversy. Journalist Roison O’Connor calls out the fest’s lack of female headliners, saying it’s “a direct symptom of industry failures to support female artists.” Organizer Emily Eaves defended the line-up, saying a female headliner was booked but had to withdraw for scheduling purposes.
