Ryan Seacrest is leaving "Live with Kelly and Ryan" after six seasons. He will be replaced by Kelly Ripa's husband, Mark Consuelos.
Ryan will continue to host until the spring, when he goes back to hosting "American Idol." But he said he'll return to guest host.
Quote, "Working alongside Kelly over the past six years has been a dream job and one of the highlights of my career. I also want to thank the entire staff and crew . . .
"It's been a memorable ride, and now I'm excited to pass the baton to Kelly's 'real' husband, Mark."
Mark has been a guest host on occasion. Kelly said having him join will be, quote, "the nation's weirdest social experiment." But she thinks he's the only one "capable of holding Ryan's torch the way [he] held it."
