CNN anchor Don Lemon stuck his foot in his mouth yesterday during a discussion about former South Carolina governor Nikki Haley.
Nikki is challenging Donald Trump for the Republican presidential nomination. And when she announced it, she took a shot at both Trump and President Biden.
She said, quote, "America is not past our prime . . . it's just that our politicians are past theirs." She also called for mandatory mental competency tests for politicians over 75.
Nikki is 51 years old.
Well, Lemon was discussing her comments with two FEMALE co-hosts yesterday, and he said, quote, "She says people, you know, politicians or something, are not in their prime.
"Nikki Haley isn't in her prime, sorry . . . when a woman is considered to be in her prime in her 20s and 30s and maybe 40s."
When he was challenged on that, he doubled down . . . quote, "Don't shoot the messenger. I'm just saying what the facts are. Google it, everybody at home . . . she wouldn't be in her prime, according to Google or whatever it is."
Well, Nikki called Don out, as she should have. She said, quote, "It's always the liberals who are the most sexist."
And Don apologized, as he should have. He called his comments, "inartful and irrelevant" . . . and added, quote, "A woman's age doesn't define her either personally or professionally.
"I have countless women in my life who prove that every day."
