All-Time Sex Symbol Raquel Welch Died Yesterday

One of the greatest sex symbols of all time is no more.  Raquel Welch passed away yesterday. She was 82. There's no word yet on the cause of death.

Raquel's big break was the 1966 sci-fi classic "Fantastic Voyage."

That same year, she wore her iconic animal skin bikini as the cavewoman Loana in the 1966 prehistoric classic "One Million Years B.C."

It was even promoted as "Mankind's first bikini." It was her poster the warden rips away to uncover how Andy escaped in "The Shawshank Redemption."

Her other gigs included the original version of "Bedazzled" . . . 1976 comedy "Mother, Jugs & Speed"  . . . "The Naked Gun 33 1/3" . . . and "Legally Blonde."

Raquel Welch learned to play along with her sex symbol image. Here's a great example, when she appeared on "The Cher Show", on this day, February 16th, 1975.

Raquel Welch appeared on "Seinfeld" in the '90s, getting into a catfight with Elaine.

Here's Elaine, telling cops to look out for another woman, but Raquel thinks Elaine is mocking HER.

She was also considered for the part of Mary Ann on "Gilligan's Island" . . . which would have been a weird fit, since she was even MORE, voluptuous than Tina Louise . . . who played Ginger.

Raquel spent her final years mostly out of the spotlight and unattached. In 2015 she said, quote, "I don't like to have a man because I'm too set in my ways.

"I like what I do. I enjoy being me, and I make a very good living at it and I'm happy."
