January 16th is National Fig Newton Day! America’s fig-filled cookie is a classic favorite dating back to the 19th century. Myth is that the fig jam-filled pastry is named after the late Sir Isaac Newton – FALSE! Fig newton originated in 1891 when a fig-lover created and patented a machine that inserted fig paste into a thick pastry dough and later sold the recipe to the Kennedy Biscuit factory (now known as Nabisco) in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Kennedy Biscuit had a reputation for naming their cookies after surrounding towns. Newton was next on their list and was chosen as the lucky name for America’s now third-most popular cookie! So pick up a pack of Nabisco’s famous snack and enjoy National Fig Newton Day!

There’s a new Cheetos flavor hitting store shelves soon with a spicy kick – Crunchy Flamin’ Hot Tangy Chili Fusion. The new flavor combines garlic, chili peppers, ginger, and citrus, which balance acid and spices well. This new flavor follows other Frito-Lay introductions, including the new Doritos Sweet and Tangy BBQ.
Look for the new Cheetos to show up on store shelves on January 16, and they will be available in various sizes priced from $0.50 to $5.19.
